We are delighted to announce that Southern Cross Care has been accepted as a Channel 9 Telethon charity for 2010. This is a great coup for Southern Cross Care and gives us the opportunity to spread the word about our work to a much wider audience.

Channel 9 Telethon is the Community Services division of Channel 9 Adelaide. Providing media sponsorship for South Australian charities with more than $1 million in Channel 9 airtime each year, Channel 9 Telethon is dedicated to the promotion of charities’ profiles and individual projects.

Established in 1960, just one year after television began in South Australia, Channel 9 Telethon remains a force in charitable fundraising in South Australia with more than 80 organisations benefiting since that time.

A television commercial (the first ever for Southern Cross Care) produced and presented by Channel 9 Telethon will be a feature of the venture. The commercial will be running on Channel 9 for 10 weeks from Monday the 7th March. We are very grateful to Channel 9 Telethon whose financial support has made this project possible. In addition we will participate in a number of fundraisers during the year, including the popular Home and Land Lottery.

This is the second time that Southern Cross Care has been fortunate to be accepted as a Channel 9 Telethon charity – the first time back in 1969 when we were a new and struggling organisation trying to establish ourselves in the community.

We look forward to an exciting year working with the other charities involved and the Channel 9 Telethon management and staff.
