The Southern Cross Care Community Foundation is dedicated to helping older people live better lives free from loneliness and isolation.

Leaving a gift in your Will to Southern Cross Care helps to ensure we can continue to do this important work, now and into the future.

A gift in your Will to our Community Foundation could be made in the form of:

  • a specific sum of money
  • the residue of your estate
  • a percentage of your estate
  • assets such as shares or property

If you already have a Will in place, your solicitor can help you to make an amendment or codicil to make a provision for a specific gift.

If you do decide to leave a gift to our Community Foundation in your Will, please contact us to inform of your planned gift, and any specific wishes you may have.

A gift in your Will makes an impact that lasts for generations.

Your Gift will make a difference in so many ways. These are just some of the programs that have recently benefited through funding from the Community Foundation.

Moove & Groove

Funded by bequests and donations, the Moove & Groove program was trialled at The Pines Lodge Residential Care in North Plympton and is now being rolled out to 16 other Southern Cross Care Residential Care homes.

Created by music therapists, exercise physiologists and dementia consultants, Moove & Groove uses the proven benefits of music and movement to improve the lives of residents, particularly those living with dementia.

The program often brings residents together in a group and provides a shared experience that residents can enjoy with their loved ones.

Care Cars

Bequest gifts helped Southern Cross Care to buy two dedicated Care Cars, helping to establish this unique and vitally important service. Our Care Car service now provides affordable, safe, and age-friendly transport to residents and clients for all their local transport needs, including trips to and from our Community Health & Wellness Centres, GP appointments, shopping trips and visits with family and friends.

Men's Shed

Some new tools purchased thanks to the Southern Cross Care Community Foundation are building carpentry skills, friendship and a camaraderie amongst male residents at The Pines Retirement Living's Men's Shed.

Technology Programs

Bequest gifts helped us to set up dedicated technology hubs for Residential Care residents, helping them to stay in touch more with family and friends, surf the internet, write and check emails and reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Simple steps to leaving a legacy with Southern Cross Care

Step 1: Determine your estate wishes. Once you have calculated the value of your estate make a list of loved ones and organisations you’d like to leave money, property or possessions to. At this stage, should you wish, please contact the Southern Cross Care Community Foundation for a confidential discussion.

Step 2: Appoint executors. Appoint one or more Executors to carry out the terms of the Will. This can be a relative, friend or legal adviser.

Step 3: Create or update your Will. A Will is a legal document and should be prepared with the assistance of a trusted legal advisor or trustee.  If you have chosen to leave a gift to Southern Cross Care, please use our suggested wording below.

Step 4: Safely store your Will. Make sure your Will is stored in a safe place and that someone you trust knows where it is. It’s also important to make a copy of your Will for your own records. Your legal adviser will often store your original Will free of charge.
