At Southern Cross Care we provide high-quality services to help members of our community be Better for life. Our Community Foundation supports this valuable work and helps to build better lives free from loneliness and isolation.
This current focus on combatting social isolation and loneliness was agreed upon after consultation with leaders from across our organisation, each bringing a unique perspective and point of view. They agreed that this is one of the most serious and urgent issues facing older people in our society.
We are currently tackling social isolation and loneliness head on through our initiatives and projects. These include:
- Southern Cross Care Care Car – transporting clients and members of our community to health services, social engagements and other locations in their local community. We are currently working on growing this program to support more people in the community.
- Technology program – we have directed funds towards providing all of our Residential Care homes with more technology, enabling residents to communicate with their loved ones more frequently and learn more about computers at the same time.
- Grants program – our annual grants program seeks to provide opportunities for creative and innovative projects to support people in our community to be Better for life - free from loneliness and isolation.
