FAQs

Telehealth appointments are meetings with health professionals held over the phone or via a video call. These consults may still be a one-on-one appointment or could be a small group session.

Once you book a telehealth appointment with a health professional we will send you an invitation with the details of the meeting, including how to join to your email address. At the time of the appointment, you will be able to join the online meeting with video and audio. This requires an appropriate device with a camera and a stable internet connection. Or, if a video call is not available, our allied health professional may simply call you. If you are ever unsure of how to access our appointment, ask our team to assist you.

Southern Cross Care does not bulk bill services because Medicare does not fund them. However, we intend for all sessions to be affordable.

There are several different ways to pay for sessions. One option is through government-funded aged care programs like the Commonwealth Home Support Programme or Home Care Packages Program. Another option is through private health insurance. This is dependent on your eligibility.

Call our team on 1800 852 772 to learn more about the cost of these services.

Southern Cross Care designs all its healthcare services for older adults. As such the services on offer focus on improving the health and overall well-being of people aged 65+.

Services include group sessions with an exercise physiologist, and one-on-one consultations with a dietitian or physiotherapist. Other one-on-one allied health services may be available, including social work, occupational therapy and nursing. Southern Cross Care does not offer a telehealth doctor service.

Services target overall well-being, including your physical, social and mental health, in a healthy ageing model. This allows you to remain living at home for longer.

No, eligible individuals can self-refer to both our telehealth and Better for Life in Country SA program. However, we also accept GP and My Aged Care referrals.
