Leaving a gift in your Will to Southern Cross Care helps to ensure we can continue to do the Community Foundation's important work. If you do decide to leave a gift to our Community Foundation in your Will, please contact us to inform us of your planned gift, and any specific wishes you may have.

A gift in your Will could be made in the form of:

  • a specific sum of money
  • the residue of your estate
  • a percentage of your estate
  • assets such as shares or property

If you already have a Will in place, your solicitor can help you to make an amendment or codicil to make a provision for a specific gift. Here are some simple steps you may like to follow.

Step 1: Determine your estate wishes. Once you have calculated the value of your estate make a list of loved ones and organisations you would like to leave money, property or possessions to. At this stage, should you wish, please contact the Southern Cross Care Community Foundation for a confidential discussion.

Step 2: Appoint executors. Appoint one or more Executors to carry out the terms of the Will. This can be a relative, friend or legal adviser.

Step 3: Create or update your Will. A Will is a legal document and should be prepared with the assistance of a trusted legal advisor or trustee.  If you have chosen to leave a gift to Southern Cross Care, please use our suggested wording below.

Step 4: Safely store your Will. Make sure your Will is stored in a safe place and that someone you trust knows where it is. It’s also important to make a copy of your Will for your own records. Your legal adviser will often store your original Will free of charge.
