If you are eligible for a low level of care and support you may receive government funding through the CHSP.

To be eligible you must be 65 or older (50 years or older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) or at least 50 years of age on a low income and homeless or at risk of becoming homeless (45 years or older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people).

Eligibility also depends on your income and assets as determined by the government, because the government expects you to pay for the cost of care and services if you can afford to.

Even if you are determined as eligible for government funding, availability of services through CHSP further depends on your location and the number of other people already accessing each service. This is due to the allocation system for funding in the CHSP.
