About

When you first walk into one of our residential care homes, you'll quickly appreciate why people who live with us love it.

The Philip Kennedy Centre Residential Care, which includes the Rehabilitation Centre located within the complex, provides low and high care, as well as memory support services that people trust and our team of qualified staff provide individualised care to suit the level and complexity of your needs.

Outdoors, breath in the fresh sea air, relax and enjoy the courtyard garden. Indoors, socialise and enjoy the active lifestyle program or communal lounge with your family and friends.

The Philip Kennedy Centre is situated close to the beach. Within reach locally is the favourite West Lakes Mall for shopping and the reinvigorated Port and Semaphore areas. If you don’t wish to travel out, you could enjoy the friendly Hub Café to catch up with friends.

Each of the 170 rooms offer you spacious ensuites, built-in wardrobes, and reverse cycle air-conditioning and on request we will check if any rooms are available for respite.

We provide chef-cooked meals, prepared on site, and can cater for your special dietary requirements.

Southern Cross Care’s whole-person approach means we also cater to your spiritual needs. The chapel caters to all faiths and denominations. Pastoral care staff are also available to provide counselling and social support to you.

If a specific requirement is not listed, please ask when you contact our friendly Customer Connect staff.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an accommodation payment?

Depending on your government mean testing assessment, you may be asked to contribute to the cost of your accommodation in residential care. This may be as either a lump sum payment (Refundable Accommodation Deposit - RAD) or as a regular periodic payment (Daily Accommodation Payment – DAP), or a combination of both.

How is my income assessed?

Your income is usually assessed by Centrelink. However, if you receive a regular service pension or income support supplement from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), they will assess your income.
If you do not receive any pension, when you enter care you will need to provide information about your income to Centrelink.

Will I have to pay anything else besides the basic daily fee?

Some residents have to pay a means-tested fee, in addition to the basic daily fee. This is determined by Centrelink on behalf of the Department of Social Services.
