Howdy neighbour!

Howdy neighbour!

As the Village Manager of Bedford Heights Estate Retirement Living, Barb Seccull says she genuinely cares for her community, one she describes as the happiest she’s been part of.

She’s been at Bedford Heights for 14 years and has nothing but praise for the residents.

The people at the village are the ones who create the warm happy atmosphere, Barb said.

“This comment is quite often made when showing prospective purchasers through the village, and they do often say that there is a warm feel to the place.”

Barb supports the Sydney Swans in the AFL, and said when she’s not working she likes to keep a busy social life with family and friends.

“Some of my hobbies and interests include spending time with my family, following the grandchildren’s sporting events, going out for dinner and attending my local Church,” Barb said.

Like the rest of Melbourne, Bedford Heights endured many challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the community has continued to support each other throughout the challenges of the last 18 months.

“I was really proud of how the Social Committee connected with residents during COVID lockdowns by providing small gifts on special events such as Mothers Day, Easter, Anzac Day, St Patrick’s Day and at Christmas,” Barb said.

“The bi-monthly newsletter which is the Buckland News produced by the Residents, is always greatly appreciated by all residents.”

“The majority of residents have said that they are so pleased they live in the retirement village as it would have been much lonelier out in the general community.”

On June 30, the ownership and operation of Bedford Heights Estate in Box Hill, and St Thomas Community Retirement Village in Forest Hill transferred from ACH Group to Southern Cross Care (SA, NT & VIC) Inc.
