New space, new vigour for Pearl Health & Fitness Centre
Health & Fitness client Ann Butler says the new centre at Pearl in Darwin is “beautiful”.
“I’m delighted now that we’ve got this beautiful new building with the equipment that is world class,” she said.
“It’s compact enough that you get to know everybody but it’s big enough that you’re not falling over each other.”
Ann has been attending Health & Fitness classes regularly for a few years, even moving off-campus to attend Southern Cross Care’s classes at Charles Darwin University for more diverse and challenging exercises.
But the new facilities at the purpose-built Pearl Health & Fitness Centre are just what the community needed.
While Ann said clients have “been super lucky” with the high quality staff who have delivered services over the years from the previous Health & Fitness Centre, having a new space is still beneficial for attracting and retaining great staff.
The new equipment is also helping Ann to lift her strength and flexibility to new heights.
“I didn’t realise that my right side was not as strong as my left side but because you can look at what’s going on with that machine it’s made me think I’ve got to push my right side to make it level with my left,” Ann said.
Ann even has a friend who’s “seriously thinking” about joining Health & Fitness services because of the new facilities.
Outside of attending two Stronger Today classes a week at Pearl for individualised exercise in a group setting, Ann also does hydrotherapy at her local pool, enjoys regular walks and joins a rock ‘n’ roll dance group weekly.
All this activity supports Ann's physical health and mobility.
