Riverside residents show their big hearts

Riverside residents show their big hearts

Retirement living residents from Southern Cross Care Riverside are showing the true Christmas spirit by continuing to give back to those who need it most.

For the third straight year, they’ve scrapped giving Christmas gifts to each other and have pooled their funds to donate three gorgeous Christmas hampers to struggling families in need. Each family receives a large selection of foods that includes traditional Christmas favourites Turkey and Ham.

They donate the hampers via the St Vincent de Paul Society, who work with Gawler Primary School to identify which children and subsequently their families are in most need of help.

The official hamper handover took place on 8 December 2017, in conjunction with Riverside’s Christmas lunch at South Lakes Golf Club.

Ross Tuohy from Vinnies said the organisation and the families were incredibly grateful for the kindness shown by Southern Cross Care residents.

The St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia has more than 60,000 members and volunteers, who work hard to assist people in need, and combat social injustice. Internationally, the Society operates in 140 countries and has over 800,000 members. Southern Cross Care is proud to be supporting such an important organisation.

Riverside retirement living estate, located just an hour from Adelaide in the beautiful coastal village of Goolwa on the banks of the Coorong, is close to shops, cafes, restaurants and much more.
