Health & Fitness Fees & Funding

Your guide to Health & Fitness funding

Southern Cross Care’s Health & Fitness services offered in South Australia and Darwin can be funded in a range of ways.

This page gives information about fees and funding for our Health & Fitness services. This includes allied health, group fitness classes, online health services (Telehealth), and restorative and transition care.

How can you pay for Health & Fitness services?

How you decide to fund your Health & Fitness services depends on your circumstances. You can use government funding if you qualify and cover the residual amount, or you can opt for private payment to fully fund the services. If you qualify for Support at Home, you may not need to make any contributions to access Southern Cross Care's Health & Fitness services.

Funding options

Support at Home program

From 1 November 2025, the Support at Home program provides Australian Government funding for eligible older people living in the community. The funding covers some costs of care and support, to help them continue living independently.

Under Support at Home, clinical allied health services are fully covered by the Government, meaning you will have no contribution to these services.

You need to receive an aged care assessment to determine eligibility for Support at Home. For more information about the aged care assessment process, visit the My Aged Care website.

You can contact our team on 1800 852 772 for assistance with the Support at Home program.

The prices below **do not take into account your personal circumstances** or indicate how much you will be required to contribute to your care.

Funding is provided at eight different classifications, which increase as needs increase.

Support at Home funding is also available through the 12 week Restorative Care Pathway, Assistive Technology and Home Modifications scheme and End of Life Pathway. All of these options provide separate funding to an ongoing Support at Home classification.

If you receive approval for Support at Home funding and choose Southern Cross Care as your service provider, you will have access to a wide range of high quality services and exclusive benefits across our services.

Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) provides some funding for entry level support services to older people. It is designed to support you to access services that help you live independently at home for longer. We can assist you to arrange an assessment for CHSP funding for services. Please call 1800 852 772 so that we can help you to have the necessary Government assessment.

CHSP funding is limited to specific geographical regions, time periods and service types. This means that at times, access to CHSP funded services may be restricted.

In 2027, the CHSP will transition to Support at Home alongside other Government funded home care programs.

Private funding

You may choose to pay for the full cost of your Health & Fitness services. Usually this option is chosen by clients who are not eligible for Government funding. It can also be used by people with an urgent need who are waiting for funding to be approved or assigned.

Private funding is also used to ‘top up’ services for those who have used all of their available Government funding.

Your private health insurance may also pay for some of the cost of our Health & Fitness services, depending on your cover. Contact your insurance provider to check what you are eligible for.

Medicare

Your GP may refer you to our services on a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan. You are required to pay upfront for all services. The first session is the equivalent of the rebate and following sessions are charged at our standard private rates. This will allow you to have five Medicare subsidised visits to the therapy services of your choice, including podiatry, physiotherapy or exercise physiology. Our staff will work together with your GP to achieve common goals relating to your health.
