SALA launches in style

SALA-Launching-August-2022

Southern Cross Care's South Australia Living Artists (SALA) program successfully launched at Carmelite on Thursday 4 August, with the opening of our SALA exhibition.

SA Residential Care residents and I Create art group members have transformed hundreds of letter boxes, letters and postcards into wonderful works of art.

Each has their own unique style and creative flair and each one is a celebration of art and creative expression at any age.

Southern Cross Care CEO, David Moran, was full of praise for everyone who helped make this year’s exhibition a success.

“Like a lot of things within the Southern Cross Care community this year, our SALA program has overcome many challenges relating to COVID-19,” Mr Moran said.

“And while COVID-19 has prevented all of our contributing artists from gathering here in person today, this exhibition in itself is a wonderful representation of them, their creativity and their resilience to continue participating in meaningful activities, even through challenging times”

Proudly supported by the Southern Cross Care Community Foundation, our 2022 SALA exhibition is a wonderful representation of our community. It demonstrates the creativity and resilience of our residents and clients to continue participating in meaningful activities through challenging times.

Our SALA program brings residents and clients together in group workshops where they can explore and express their creativity for a shared goal - helping to build a sense of community and reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.

The SALA Festival is a SA-wide festival of visual art that was established in 1998 to promote and celebrate the many talented visual artists in South Australia.

The aim was -and remains- to extend visual arts audiences, allowing all South Australian visual artists of any level and working in any medium to be part of our annual SALA Festival every August.
