2024 Foundation grants make ‘connections’

The Internal Grants program is at the very heart of our Southern Cross Care Community Foundation, bringing new ideas to life across our community. The program received many wonderful applications this year and we are proud to announce the successful applicants.

Congratulations to those behind each and every one of these projects that will help to build better lives, free from loneliness and isolation.

Smart+Step - Gamified exercise to prevent falls
Bellevue Court Residential Care 
Game faces on! A high tech mat sends computerised prompts through exercises, boosting cognitive stimulation, tracking reflex times and dialing up the as residents race for the top score.  

Get Up n Connect - Community engagement event
Fullarton Residential Care 
These Sunday Fun Days will get children and great grandparents dialing up the volume with loads of fun.

Community singing group activities
Glen Woodley Retirement Estate 
Singing and music - these new group activities will spread joy, regardless of age, ability or health.

Healthy Connections Wellness Week
Health & Wellness 
Smoothie bikes and much more! This will be a full program to get involved, learn and reconnect.

These will be parties! Getting together to celebrate every birthday with a zero!

Serenity Corner & Interactive board / immersive activities 
Myrtle Cottage Respite
A new outdoor tranquil haven with flowing waterfall fountain and seating plus indoors there’ll be a new Interactive Board and Nintendo Wii helping clients have fun and connect.

Enhancing client outcomes through student research projects
Research & Development
Four research projects investigating the benefits of group exercise, telehealth and how to improve access to more health-modifying interventions.

Recitals Matinee Series
Retirement Living Communities
Exciting series in partnership with Recitals Australia and emerging artists, including from the Elder Conservatorium of Music,  bringing interactive music, song and dance to retirement community centres with residents guiding activities.  

Golf Putting Green 
Noarlunga Retirement Living
A new putting green to draw residents and families to come together to play, practice and compete.

Tabletop Jigsaw Puzzle Boards & Card Group resources
Riverside Retirement Living 
More to do and more often with these new activities for residents to join in and enjoy at the village clubhouse.

New tournaments and more games to engage the community to get together, including using new indoor bowls equipment.

Community Garden
The Fairways Retirement Living 
A new planned, planted and seasonally changing community garden will involve the community and share its produce.

Enhancing our dementia-friendly environment
The Pines Cottage Respite 
This project will boost the sensory appeal outdoors through water fountains, colorful raised flower beds and engaging objects and the homelike feeling indoors will be enhanced.  

Men's Shed equipment
The Pines Retirement Living
After moving to its new onsite location, the Men’s Shed will have new benches, racking, shelving and dust extraction, making this an inviting space and for other groups to come over and enjoy too.

Rhythm Machine
Peninsula Retirement Living
There’ll be no stopping the music group when the new rhythm machine starts - a wonderful way the Village Players will bring people together to enjoy the music.
