Face to Face at the Migration Museum

Students and resident at a SALA workshop

The SA Living Artists Festival (SALA) program has swept through the Southern Cross Care community, bringing many wonderful moments of intergenerational connection. See our dedicated SALA page here.

Residents in all of our Residential Care homes have been given the opportunity to meet and connect with students to share their personalities, interests, memories and culture.

Clients of the ICreate social art class have also joined the intergenerational program.

Sponsored by the Southern Cross Care Community Foundation, the SALA program has been tackling
loneliness and social isolation head on.

The shared moments in meet and greet workshops were heartwarming, showing the truly positive impact of providing opportunities for social interaction through art.

Students, residents and clients then worked hard on their mixed media portraits and many have also met again for a big reveal of their artworks to each other.

The finished portraits will be exhibited at the Migration Museum in Adelaide, 82 Kintore Avenue, from 1 August to 31 December - make sure you head in to see the colour and immerse yourself in the program!
