Arts & Craft

engaging in creativity

Creativity, stimulation and fun

Southern Cross Care’s community respite services in South Australia and the Northern Territory are focussed on offering tailored and meaningful activities as part of short-term care. Art and craft are two types of activities that help our clients to express themselves, engage their minds and socialise, all at the same time. Through selected art and craft activities our clients can have fun and improve their well-being.

Creative works

Art and craft are a part of most days at our centre-based respite care services, and are often a feature chosen by clients as part of our in home and community respite support as well. Activities may include painting, drawing, mosaics, pottery, woodworking and making themed craft for events, such as cards for Mother’s Day and decorations for St Patrick’s Day. Art and craft not only allow clients to be creative, produce something meaningful and connect with others, these activities also bring back memories and stimulate emotions. If a client has a particular interest in continuing an art or craft hobby they already have skills in, or would like to start a new hobby, our compassionate staff can help to arrange the activity.
