Our social excursions involve travelling via bus to various locations in SA to enjoy new experiences and meet new people. The program of excursions changes every three months, so there is always something different to try out. Everyone who joins the social outings must be aged 55+ and many share a common love of adventure. So jump onboard and be Better for life.

As such, our outings are designed to strengthen attendees' sense of community by facilitating high quality shared experiences in a welcoming environment where people feel safe to share their stories and be themselves.
You don't have to be one of our Health & Fitness or Home Care clients to join our Out and About trips. All you need to do is pay when you book your spot, then bring your smile along on the day, put on your seatbelt and enjoy the ride.

It is open to all aged over 55. (Also, open to those who are not our Health & Fitness clients)
All year round on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Museums, Historic Tours/Towns, Theatre/Musical performances, Markets, Cruises, Zoo, Botanical/Community Gardens, Arts & Crafts, coastal outings. Most outings involve lunch and/or morning/afternoon tea.
Bookings can be made over the phone by calling Southern Cross Care Health & Fitness on 1800 852 772, or by visiting your local Southern Cross Care Health and Fitness Centre.
Yes you can!* Your HCP can cover the full cost of the trip. All you have to do is provide us with your HCP Coordinators name and contact information at the time of booking, and we will contact them for payment approval. *HCP funding must be approved by your HCP Coordinator.
Of course you can! We will note if there will be any uneven terrain or inaccessible areas.
Each trip has a different ‘Level of Activity’ (minimal, moderate, maximum) which indicates the amount of physical activity/walking required. It is a requirement of the outing attendee to check the outing’s level of activity prior to booking and to determine if the Level of Activity is suitable to their mobility needs. Please note that outing attendees should be independently mobile to get on and off the bus, and those who require extra assistance need to bring an extra support person with them to the outing (the support person must also have a ticket to the outing). If an outing attendee needs clarification about an outing’s Level of Activity, they are encouraged to contact the Health Education & Social Coordinator.
You will receive a call from one of our lovely staff members a few days before the outing to confirm a few things such as meal pre-orders.
If you cancel:
- 5 or more business days before the outing = Full refund or credit note.
- Less than 5 business days notice but greater than 2 business days = 50% refund or credit note.
- Less than 2 business days before the outing = No refund or credit note.
