We want to work with you
Whether you are an aged care provider looking to enhance your clients’ mobility and balance, a GP ready to refer a client towards an improved health pathway, or a retirement living service looking to increase residents’ health literacy, we can help.
Our experience supporting older adults, use of evidence and innovative operating model form the perfect setting to support your clients to be Better for life. Contact us today to find out how you and your clients can benefit from a partnership.
Our Health & Wellness services
Evidence shows us that for older Australians to remain living independently they must be involved in physically, socially and mentally engaging activities. Yet only a few older adults are engaged enough to receive the full health benefits. Southern Cross Care uses a Better for life approach, which shows clients the real difference that being engaged in these activities makes for their quality of life. Health & Wellness, our 50-years-plus evidence-based, person-centred model, benefits our growing number of clients participating in exercise, allied health, social and community respite programs.
Allied Health
With nine different allied health and therapy disciplines in our team we are perfectly placed to develop individualised care pathways. Multidisciplinary allied health pathways, aligned to the client goals and assessed needs, facilitate the greatest benefit for older adults. Our experienced team of allied health professionals works together to ensure therapy and care is person-centred, achieving the best outcomes for the clients. Our world-class Health & Wellness Centres give us the unique ability to drive positive changes for clients. When clients can't get to a centre we can visit them at home, or deliver services via telehealth.
Restorative Care
Southern Cross Care offers two short term programs with many proven benefits for clients. The Government-funded Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC) program aims to increase the functional well-being of clients over eight weeks of intensive support at home and at our centres. For those leaving hospital, the Transition Care Program (TCP) also aims for improved functional well-being so clients can confidently return to living independently in their own homes. Through the collaborative approach and best practice prescribed planned care of our allied health clinicians and therapists, our restorative care clients experience an average 45% improvement in their functional well-being.

Community Respite
Southern Cross Care offers a range of Community Respite options that provide high-quality short-term care to clients while giving carers peace of mind and a period of rest to focus on their own health and well-being. Respite Care not only offers the caregiver an important break but can offer a person living with dementia essential physical, social and mental stimulation. Engaging Community Respite programs are also proven to be an effective counter to behavioural fluctuation among people living with dementia.
Centre-based daytime services are available at Myrtle Cottage in Myrtle Bank, while day and overnight respite is available at Willow Fern Cottage in Mount Barker and The Pines Cottage in North Plympton. Our Buddy Program supports clients with respite in their own homes and the local community.
Better for life online
Better for life online improves the health and well-being of clients from the comfort of their own home. We offer free online exercise videos, telehealth appointments with our health professionals and more to keep clients active and healthy. This option is ideal for clients that cannot leave their homes for health, mobility or other reasons.
To support clients that will benefit from an empowering health and fitness program, but live too far away from our Health & Wellness Centres, we offer Better for life in Country SA. This works in a similar way, with online exercise videos, telehealth appointments and the provision of some equipment to engage them in exercising at home.

Both programs aim to help clients regain as much independence as possible. Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC) program is aimed at clients that are living in the community.
