Daily Exercise 1200x600-1

Daily exercise

Led by qualified health professionals

Tailored exercise programs

Meaningful activities in respite care are not just about the social and emotional side of well-being, they are also about improving the physical health of clients to enable them to live at home for longer. Southern Cross Care understands that physical activity boosts overall well-being and as such provides qualified health professionals to lead planned daily exercise routines at our centre-based respite care services.

Exercise and lifestyle

Daily exercise is good for the heart, mind and body, keeping older adults independent for longer. What better way to fit exercise into the day than with the support of a qualified health professional during short-term respite care? All exercise routines offered through community respite services are age-friendly, delivered in a safe environment and tailored to the individual, so each client can get the most out of their exercise as possible. Activities can include daily walks in the community, sessions on equipment such as stationary bikes, sets of weights and functional exercises for balance and mobility. Some of the exercise our clients enjoy is also part of physical games and challenges that can encourage more social engagement.
