Three words can go a long way
The last two years have brought many challenges to Aged Care employees, but hearing the community say thanks for caring on Aged Care Employee Day will make a big difference.
Home Care Client Relationship Coordinator, Narelle supports clients and families to understand how the Home Care Packages work and support them on the journey if they decide to accept Southern Cross Care as their chosen provider.
Narelle is proud to work in such a passionate and dedicated team, full of people who genuinely care about making a positive difference to the lives of older people.
“Our whole Home Care team has worked so hard to support our community over the years, especially the past couple of years as we have dealt with the impacts of COVID-19,” Narelle said.
“Our Home Care and Health & Wellness employees work closely together to deliver healthy ageing services so that our clients can stay in their own homes for as long as they want.”
Aged Care Employee Day is the annual day that celebrates each and every team member involved in the journey of caring for older people, from our front-line nurses and carers, to our supporting staff who answer phones, drive cars and buses and staff our offices. In recognition of the day, each of our 2,800 employees received a thank you gift that included a free movie ticket and chocolate goodies.
Ann Sawtell manages private Home Care clients for Southern Cross Care and said she really appreciates the high level of care and dedication shown by her fellow employees.
“From the first enquiry for services, the planning for a person's support begins. Information is gathered from potential clients to enable an extensive individual support plan to be formulated to ensure that they are provided with the support we can provide,” Ann said.
“As much as medical information is important, the gathering of a person's story, interests and lifestyle is invaluable in order to match them with the right services to meet their individual needs.
“It's always nice to get a thank you but during these challenging times it means even more!”
